Are you Happy at Work?
Most full-time employees will spend more than 100,000 hours of their adult lives at work.
But how many of those hours are spent happily working?
Unfortunately for the majority of Australian’s they are spent unhappy.
Unhappy workers lead to lower productivity, higher turnover, and poor culture.
Companies need to know what is most important to Australian workers. This enables them to improve workplace environments and performance.
Most Satisfied Worker
The article also speaks to Tasmanian apple orchardist Lynne Uptin, 72. She fits the picture of the most satisfied worker nationally.
“The community here is wonderful (Tasmania) but it gets a very bad press. It’s not my view of the world” – Lynn Uptin.
As a retired arts administrator who works part-time growing apples, she enjoys the comfort of flexibility.
Using this example to help organisations understand how they can improve working environments.
The Research
The Happy Worker’s Report is the most extensive piece of research ever undertaken in Australia.
Based on HILDA (Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia) survey, it boils the data down to three core factors that make worker’s happy. And a few that detract from happiness.
