At mwah. we always recommend doing reference checks before offering a role. Reference checks are a great way to find out more about a candidate’s previous experience and to confirm what you have learned about them in your own recruitment process. We recommend you do a minimum of two to three reference checks for the preferred candidate with someone that has (recently) been their manager. If a manager cannot be provided for a reference check before a selection decision, look to speak to a significant senior stakeholder/peer that can clearly and specifically speak to the work of the individual.
