Mentoring is sharing your experience and knowledge with someone. It is more of a personal relationship, a less formal sounding board, with less rigid timing and duration. That said, many mentoring relationships can be lifelong.

To make it work well, mentoring needs:

  1. The mentor to have knowledge and experience from real life
  2. The mentee to be open and enthusiastic to learn
  3. Time available and a commitment from both mentor and mentee
  4. Chemistry — do you want to spend time together?
