If a business determines a role/s is redundant in Australia, there is a clear process outlined in the Fair Work legislation to ensure the process is reasonably managed in a way that supports those impacted. This process includes:
- Quickly, openly, honestly and transparently discussing proposed changes with those impacted.
- Once the change is confirmed, providing notice to employees about the redundancy of their role
- If terminating an employee’s contract as a result of redundancy, providing them with adequate notice
