When we talk leadership, we mean ‘people leadership’.

While there are more definitions of ‘leadership’ than perhaps any other word in the dictionary, here’s the simple one we use:

“The relationship between you and others, aimed at achieving something worthwhile”.

At the heart of that definition is the ‘relationship’. In other words, leadership is not just about you. It’s about you AND others and the relationships you develop.

Too often leaders are busy looking at themselves – their ambitions, their achievements, their learning, their presentation skills, whether they’re confident enough, who sponsors them, right down to what they’re wearing or how they talk – All interesting, but nothing to do with the important stuff in leadership. Leadership is, much more importantly, about your impact on others.
