WHEN TO USE THIS GUIDE?

When you join a new company, or are promoted or moved into a new role to lead a team or area, you’re not familiar with, the focus is too often on ‘this is what I’m going to do’. Instead, as you walk in, it’s a great idea to spend a little time getting to know the team and their contributions so far. After all, no one likes a leader on a white horse, oblivious to the past and coming to rescue everyone, unless you deeply understand the team, their context, and what’s important to them. With this foundation, and appreciation, you can step up to lead your new team or business, in a way that is relevant and appropriate.
